We’re excited that the first phase of Nick Cave’s project Augment is underway in Upham’s Corner! Join us with our partners at the Design Studio for Intervention and artist/facilitator Wilton Tejada at the Augment Collage Cart to explore joy, togetherness, and community on May 3 from 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm starting at DS4SI headquarters on Columbia Rd. The resident-made collages will be incorporated into a custom-made building wrap, that will be hung on street banners and on displayed in storefront windows in the neighborhood later this year. Through these workshops we are merging art and community to support ongoing dialogue on the value of public space and the benefit of creative placemaking and public art installation. By bringing the neighborhood into the creative process of Augment in a hands-on way, we hope to weave the values, identities, and voices of the neighborhood into the artwork from the get-go.
