Years in the making, in part inspired by the summer of 2020 protests, “Summer Sets” proposed a dialogue between the past, present, and future of space. Using 3D renderings typically employed to project what construction undertakings will look like, Juan Obando's Summer Sets engages collective imagination to help the public think about how to build/rebuild the landscape. This monumental intervention provided a literal and figurative platform for visitors to add themselves, or bits and pieces of their stories/journeys, to the memorial landscape and re-envision the roles each person plays in the construction and future of Boston’s collective spaces.
