We are thrilled to announce the news here first: Leah Triplett Harrington was recently named N+T’s first-ever Curator.
A longtime writer, editor, and curator, Triplett Harrington will continue to organize large-scale public art commissions for Now + There where she has worked for over two years as Assistant Curator and prior to that at N+T’s critic-in-residence. She most recently oversaw the installations of Ambrosia by Cicely Carew, The Shape of Play by Sari Carel, and ¡Provecho! by Justin Favela. She will continue her curatorial advisory role and work in curriculum development for the organization’s Public Art Accelerator Program.
Triplett Harrington is also a founding editor of publication and platform The Rib and editor-at-large for Boston Art Review and has written for both publications. Her writing has most recently appeared in Flash Art, Hyperallergic, WBUR's The Artery, Big Red & Shiny, The Brooklyn Rail, and Harper's Bazaar Art. As an independent curator, she has organized projects for Boston University Art Galleries, Trestle Gallery, Herter Gallery, and others. She currently serves as the inaugural curatorial mentor for Praise Shadow Art Gallery in Brookline, MA. She holds degrees from University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA, and Christie’s Education, New York. She lives in the Fort Point neighborhood of Boston.
"Leah has played a pivotal role in expanding N+T's curatorial vision to include under-celebrated artists representing a diverse range of racial and cultural backgrounds, ages, and approaches to public art making,'' said Kate Gilbert, Now + There’s Executive Director who continues in her role as Chief Curator. “A nature collaborator and scholar, Leah's inclusive vision for who creates and enjoys public art will bring greater attention to how we craft a more vibrant and equitable city with temporary public art.”
“I am thrilled to continue this work of opening minds, conversations, and places in Boston in my new role. I look forward to continuing working with Kate and the rest of the N+T team in amplifying the vision of artists--from Boston and around the world--who have unique, urgent messages for us in these times.”
Help us congratulate Leah!
Now + There (N+T) is a non-profit public art curator fostering artists and the public to create bold public art experiences that open minds, conversations, and spaces across Boston, resulting in a more open, equitable, and vibrant city.
